Early Career and ControversiesBorn as Soni Malaj, the Albanian singer began her career by participating in various competitions. Notably, she entered "Top Fest" in 2006 and was scheduled to compete in the second season of "Kënga Magjike" alongside her former boyfriend, Flori Mumajesi, with the song "Fluturimi 3470" (Flight 3470).
Following the victory of Serbian singer Marija Šerifović at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, rumors emerged that her winning song, "Molitva," was plagiarized from Malaj's song "Ndarja." Malaj was also awarded the "You Live with It" prize at "Top Fest 11" and received the "Best Female Singer" award at the same edition of the festival.
Eurovision Aspiration
In 2018, Malaj participated in the national selection, Festivali i Këngës 57, with the song "Më e fortë" (Stronger) in hopes of representing Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Despite reaching the finals, she ultimately placed 5th.
