Biography of Stuart Stockdale
Stuart Stockdale is an English fashion designer and entrepreneur. He was born in Carlisle, Cumbria. He studied the secrets of the fashion world at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, one of the most renowned educational institutions for aspiring designers. He obtained his master's degree from the Royal College of Art.
Throughout his career, Stockdale has worked in all the major fashion capitals of the world. He has collaborated with famous fashion designers and brands such as Jasper Conran, Romeo Gigli, J Crew, Pringle of Scotland, Jigsaw, and Jean Paul Gaultier. From 2001 to 2005, Stockdale served as the lead designer at Pringle of Scotland, where he revitalized the brand and restored its reputation as a highly sensual label.
In 2006, Stockdale moved to the British company Holliday and Brown as the director of design. During his time there, he successfully collaborated with Prada on a joint project. He also worked for Jean Paul Gaultier, contributing to the creation of one of the designer's prêt-à-porter collections and working on special projects such as designing costumes for Kylie Minogue's tour.
After parting ways with Gaultier, Stockdale returned to London and became the design director at Jaeger, a brand known in Britain since 1884. He currently oversees the entire brand's operations. Recently, Jaeger expanded to Moscow, opening two flagship stores. Stockdale attended the grand opening ceremony in the shopping center "Vremena Goda" and even offered valuable advice to the first customers on selecting suitable outfits.
In Russia, Jaeger offers collections such as "Jaeger by Jaeger," "Boutique by Jaeger," "Jaeger Black," and "Jaeger London." Stockdale places the highest hopes on "London" and "Boutique." The "London" line primarily targets stylish businesswomen and combines the best characteristics of professional and casual styles. The "Boutique" line is designed for relatively young women in their early twenties. It is a relatively new collection not only in Russia but also globally, and it has been well-received abroad, leaving no doubt that Russian customers will also appreciate it. The "Jaeger by Jaeger" collection is not intended for the mass market, as the original version featured only 10 extremely limited edition models. The selection of models changes once a year, giving every brand enthusiast the chance to acquire something truly exclusive.
Stockdale does not plan to stay in Russia for an extended period and intends to return to London in the near future. His current office is located in close proximity to Kensington Palace, which has often inspired him to create new designs. For example, his Autumn-Winter 2011-2012 collection was influenced by the deliberately modest Kensington, which has recently become the home of a young British princess.
