Biography of Swanee Hunt
Swanee Hunt is an American author and professor of public policy at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. She is the founder and director of the Women and Public Policy Program (WAPPP) at the Kennedy School and has also served as the United States Ambassador to Austria.

Early Life and Education
Swanee Hunt was born on May 1, 1950, in Dallas, Texas. She is the daughter of Haroldson Lafayette Hunt, an oil magnate and billionaire. She grew up in Dallas and later lived in Denver, Colorado, where she actively participated in social and charitable activities. Hunt holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy, two master's degrees, and a doctorate in theology.

Work and Achievements
Hunt is an expert on women in politics and has conducted research, training, and consultations with women leaders in 60 countries around the world. She currently serves as the chair of the Washington-based Institute for Inclusive Security, advocating for the meaningful involvement of women in peace processes in conflict-affected areas. In 1981, she co-founded the Hunt Alternatives Fund with her sister Helen LaKelly Hunt. The fund focuses on strengthening youth arts organizations, supporting leaders of social movements, combating human trafficking, and expanding philanthropy.
Hunt lectures at various Harvard faculties, including the law school, divinity school, and business school. In 1993, she was appointed as the United States Ambassador to Austria, where she gained recognition for her weekly column in a newspaper and radio program. She organized women's conferences in Bosnia and took other measures to promote peace in former Yugoslavia.
An active participant in the Democratic Party, Hunt recently organized the "Unconventional Women" program, a six-hour event featuring over 20 women political leaders, attended by an audience of 3,000 people, at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. In 2001, she received the Community of Christ International Peace Award. In April 2007, Hunt was the keynote speaker at the annual international conference of the Association of Junior Leagues. In October 2007, she and her sister Helen were inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame.
In addition to her professional achievements, Hunt has a passion for photography, and her photographs have been exhibited. She has also composed a musical piece called "The Witness Cantata," which has been performed in six cities. She was married to conductor Charles Ansbacher and became a widow in September 2010. They have three children and three grandchildren.
