Biography of Taisa Bondar
Taisa Bondar is a Belarusian author of six books of poetry and prose. She was born in the village of Rudensk, Minsk region, into a working-class family. Bondar completed her studies at the Minsk Institute of Foreign Languages through a correspondence program in 1967.
Early Career
Bondar began her career as a seamstress and then worked as a senior pioneer leader from 1960 to 1961. She later became a librarian and led a circle at the House of Pioneers from 1965 to 1970. Bondar also worked as a teacher from 1970 to 1977 and served as a correspondent for the newspaper "Vecherniy Minsk" from 1978 to 1985.
Literary Career
In 1985, Bondar became the deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine "Belarus" and in 1991, she became the editor-in-chief of the literary journal "Vsemirnaya Literatura" (World Literature), a position she still holds today. Bondar debuted as a poet with a collection of Belarusian-language poems published in the newspaper "L1M". She is the author of six books of poetry and prose in the Belarusian language.
Membership and Residence
Bondar became a member of the Union of Soviet Writers in 1978. She currently resides in Minsk, Belarus.
