Biography of Tamara Kletterbak

Tamara Kletterbak was born on May 26, 1963, in Seattle, Washington, USA. Her family moved from Seattle to Akron, Ohio when she was still a child. Tamara's mother, Elsa, was originally from Norway, so she spent her childhood summers attending a Norwegian school and became fluent in Norwegian and Swedish.

Tamara studied at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, specializing in business administration and marketing, while also studying ballet. During college, Tamara landed a small role in the production of "Our Town" and became hooked on acting. After graduating, she appeared in the musicals "A Chorus Line" and "Pippin at Akron's Popular Carousel Dinner Theatre" before deciding to try her luck in New York City.

After several months of intense training at a theater studio in the Big Apple, Tamara made her way to Los Angeles, where she faced disappointment during her pilot season. However, her persistence paid off when she was offered a role in Peter Hewitt's film "The Debt" alongside Ray Don Chong. She also portrayed Iden Famhans, a crack-addicted woman from Harlem, in several episodes of the TV series "NYPD Blue".

Tamara portrayed Timothy Hutton's wife, Sunny, in John Irvin's thriller "Criminal Zone" and appeared in Larry David's comedy "Sour Grapes" in 1998. Her career gained momentum after her standout role in Craig Shapiro's family film "To Grandmother's House We Go" with Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. She had the rare opportunity to showcase her talent in a different role, as she had mostly been cast as drug addicts and marginalized white women.

In 1991, Tamara received the prestigious "Dramalogue Award" for "Best Leading Actress" for her work in the play "How the Other Half Loves".
