Early Life and Career
Born on January 1, 1913, in the Zhilokosinsky district of the Ural region, he began his career as an engineer in the oil industry. In 1938, he graduated from the Moscow Oil Institute named after I.M. Gubkin.
Contributions to the Oil Industry
During World War II, he played a pivotal role in the development of the Ural-Emba oil and gas basin, contributing to the discovery of three new oil fields: Dossor, Emba, and Makate. The exploitation of these fields ensured a steady supply of high-quality oil to the Soviet Army.
Political and Administrative Career
In the postwar years, he served as Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan for the oil industry, Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR, and Chairman of the State Planning Committee of the Kazakh SSR.
Academic and Scientific Work
From 1955 to 1985, he taught at Kazakh State University (KazGU), where he became Dean of the Faculty of Economics and later Head of the Department of National Economic Planning. He received his doctorate in economic sciences in 1962 and became a professor in 1964.
Scientific Contributions
His research focused on the history and development of the Ural-Emba oil and gas basin. He formulated a periodization model for its development, which has guided research in the field.
Educational Achievements
He trained over 1,500 Soviet economists and planners, including 12 candidates and two doctors of economic sciences. Many of his students have become distinguished scholars and leaders in academia and industry.
