Tayshaun Prince was born on February 28, 1980, in Compton, California. In 1998, he enrolled at the University of Kentucky. Over the course of four seasons, he played for the basketball team, the Kentucky Wildcats. Each year, Tayshaun advanced his team to higher levels in the NCAA Championship. In 2001, he received the Most Valuable Player award. One of his most memorable college games was against the North Carolina team, where he dominated the opponent. His performance in that game was often compared to the playing style of Michael Jordan from the Chicago Bulls.

In 2003, Tayshaun Prince received an offer from the Detroit Pistons to join the NBA games. Initially, he sat on the bench as a rookie.
