Biography of Telman Ismailov
Telman Mardanovich Ismailov, the President of AST Group, was born on October 26, 1956, in Baku. He attended the Azerbaijan National Economy Institute from 1973 to 1976. After completing his military service, he transferred to the Plekhanov Moscow Institute of National Economy, from which he graduated in 1980. Following his graduation, Ismailov worked as an economist in the Ministry of Trade and as an expert in "Vostokintorg".
Establishment of AST Group
In 1989, Ismailov registered the AST Group, which he continues to serve as President. The group was created in 1989 and is jointly owned by Telman Ismailov, his two sons, and his nephew. Currently, the AST Group consists of 31 companies engaged in various businesses, including "AST-Gof" (hotel business), "AST-Kapstroy" (construction), "AST-Shchit" (security company), "AST-Praga" (restaurant business), "AST-Taxi" (passenger transportation), "AST-Gold" (jewelry manufacturing), and OJSC "Torgovy Dom TsUM" (management of "Voentorg"). The company's annual turnover is approximately $2 billion.
