The Incredible Kreskin

The Showman, the Comic, and the Psychic

George Joseph Kresge, better known to the world as The Mentalist or The Amazing Kreskin, displayed the extraordinary reaches of the human mind—his mind—for six decades, capturing the attention of millions with his showmanship, comic timing, and psychic abilities. His name became a fixture in global culture, appearing in comedy clubs, comic books, pulp fiction, television sitcoms, and national magazines.

Childhood Prodigy

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, young Kreskin showed remarkable powers of divining hidden objects during childhood games of "hot and cold," and later, reading minds. As a teen sensation on "The World's Youngest Hypnotist" television show, his talents became known nationwide. Researchers in clinical psychology, parapsychology, and the power of suggestion studied Kreskin's extraordinary abilities.

The ESP Symbol

By his late teens, Kreskin had become synonymous with telepathy, and he developed the mental acuity test that became the staple of his performances. For decades, audiences of all ages were enthralled by the legendary figure. What other celebrity can boast of creating television series, board games, authoring nearly a dozen books, composing a theme played by Skitch Henderson in Carnegie Hall, and making hundreds of guest appearances on talk shows?

Global Reach

Kreskin's performances spanned over 3 million miles, reaching television viewers worldwide. He later became a training consultant for law enforcement and security personnel across the Western world, teaching these professionals to develop their observational, intuitive, and deductive skills.

The Twenty-First Century Nostradamus

In his later years, Kreskin gained international recognition for his remarkable ability to predict the future, especially regarding world events. He foresaw the outcome of the 2008 U.S. presidential election, as recorded on December 6, 2007, 11 months before the election. In 2008, Kreskin also accurately predicted the Super Bowl outcome three days before the game. Years earlier in Canada, Kreskin predicted Prime Minister Martin's reelection one month before the national election. A day after the election, he appeared on national Canadian television to warn that the government might collapse within 14 months. Many have referred to him as the "Nostradamus of the 20th century."

Mainstream Stardom

Recently in Canada, a television series called "Star Portraits" dedicated individual programs to prominent celebrities, who consented to having their portraits painted by three notable Canadian artists. The show culminated in a meeting between the artists and the star a week later, where they formally received their portraits. The Amazing Kreskin was among the first celebrities profiled on the program. In March 2009, Tom Hanks' feature film "The Great Buck Howard" premiered, starring Hanks and John Malkovich. The producers acknowledged that the character portrayed by John Malkovich was based on The Amazing Kreskin.
