Recently in Canada, a television series called "Star Portraits" dedicated individual programs to prominent celebrities, who consented to having their portraits painted by three notable Canadian artists. The show culminated in a meeting between the artists and the star a week later, where they formally received their portraits. The Amazing Kreskin was among the first celebrities profiled on the program. In March 2009, Tom Hanks' feature film "The Great Buck Howard" premiered, starring Hanks and John Malkovich.
