Early Life and Education
Tea Tsulukiani was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, on January 21, 1975. She attended the Collège-Lycée Ampère in Lyon, France, graduating in 1992. In 1997, she graduated with honors from the Faculty of International and European Law at Tbilisi State University. She later earned a Master's degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the National School of Administration in Strasbourg, France, in 2000.
Career at the European Court of Human Rights
From September 2000 to February 2010, Tsulukiani worked as a staff member at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. She returned to Georgia in May 2010 as an advisor on human rights to the chairman of the "Georgia – Free Democrats" party, and later became deputy chair of the party.
Entry into Politics
In the parliamentary elections of October 1, 2012, Tsulukiani was elected as a member of the Georgian Parliament from the "Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia" party, led by billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili. She soon left parliament to join the government.
Minister of Justice and Vice Prime Minister
On October 25, 2012, Tsulukiani was appointed Minister of Justice. She was promoted to Vice Prime Minister in the government of Giorgi Gakharia on September 13, 2019. She resigned from this position on September 29, 2020.
Return to Parliament and Committee Chairmanship
In the parliamentary elections of October 31, 2020, Tsulukiani was re-elected as a member of the Georgian Parliament from the "Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia" party. She is currently the chairperson of the parliamentary committee on education, science, and culture.
