Biography of Thomas Bisimayer

Thomas Bisimayer, an American alpine skier, was born in 1989 in Plattsburgh, New York. He started skiing at the age of three and joined the renowned American sports and education program, the New York Ski Education Foundation, at the age of seven. It was during this time that Bisimayer began his serious training. Inspired by the skiing of the great skier Thomas Vonn (the current husband and coach of the famous skier Lindsey Vonn), at the age of twelve, Thomas set himself the ambitious and challenging goal of making it to the United States national team. His distinctive style of skiing became characterized by exceptional sharpness and vigor during descents.

Early Successes

Bisimayer's path to major victories began with his participation and subsequent wins in the Junior Championships in 2009. He finished third in the super-giant slalom at Panorama NorAm and sixth in FIS level races. Officially, at the Nature Valley Championships in March 2009, Thomas Bisimayer placed second in slalom among juniors and fifth in the combination event. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, he finished 11th in the downhill and 14th in the giant slalom. Following this championship, Bisimayer headed to Alaska to participate in the Nature Valley World Cup (Alpine Championships at Alyeska, AK). It was a great honor and privilege for the young athlete to compete in this tournament alongside renowned skiers such as Andrew Weibrecht and Erik Fisher, who were already part of the American Olympic team. He achieved a sixth-place finish in the downhill, falling just over a second behind Marco Sullivan, the winner and member of the U.S. Olympic team.

Rising Star

Bisimayer gained significant attention after the Junior World Championships, which served as an excellent platform for talented newcomers. In addition to alpine skiing, Thomas also has an interest in other sports such as baseball, soccer, and tennis. Among his other passions, he enjoys listening to the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on his music player. It is known that Thomas's sister, Lilly, is studying law at CUNY Law in New York, while his father, Bob Bisimayer, works in business, and his mother is employed in an insurance company in Lake Placid.
