Early Life and Career
Giani Kiriță was born on July 2 February 1980, in Bucharest, Romania. He began his football career at the youth academy of Rapid București, a prominent club in his hometown.
Transfer to Dynamo Kyiv
In 2002, Kiriță made a significant move to Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv. The versatile midfielder quickly established himself in the starting lineup, demonstrating his ability to play in various defensive positions, including central midfielder, central defender, and even libero.
Accomplishments with Dynamo Kyiv
Throughout his 12 years with Dynamo Kyiv, Kiriță played a pivotal role in the club's domestic success. He helped the team secure four Ukrainian Premier League titles in 2002/03, 2003/04, 2006/07, and 2008/09. Additionally, Kiriță won three Ukrainian Cups in 2003, 2005, and 2007, and lifted the First Channel Cup in 2008.
International Appearances
Kiriță earned 33 caps for the Romania national team from 2001 to 2011. He represented his country in several major tournaments, including the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2008 UEFA European Championship.
Later Career and Retirement
Following his departure from Dynamo Kyiv, Kiriță played for a number of clubs in Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova. He retired from professional football in 2017.
