Early Career and Accolades

Aleksandr Chivadze, a distinguished Soviet footballer, began his career at the "Torpedo" football school in Kutaisi, Georgia, in 1971. During his stint with the senior team from 1973 to 1976, he honed his defensive skills and later earned the prestigious title of Honored Master of Sports in 1981.

Success with Tbilisi Dynamo

In 1977, Chivadze's career took a significant leap when he joined the renowned "Dynamo" of Tbilisi, where he would spend the majority of his playing days until 1982. Chivadze played a pivotal role in Tbilisi Dynamo's historic triumphs, securing the USSR Championship title in 1978, the USSR Cup in 1979, and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1981. His outstanding performances earned him recognition as the Soviet Union's top footballer, ranking first in the list of 33 best footballers in 1978 and second in 1977.
