John Thune is an American politician who served as the United States Senator from South Dakota from 1997 to 2015. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Early Career
Before becoming a Senator in 1997, Johnson served as a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives for 10 years. During his tenure in the House, he held leadership positions, including Speaker of the House.
United States Senate
In 1997, Johnson was elected to the United States Senate, representing South Dakota. He served on numerous committees during his time in the Senate, including the Committee on Appropriations, the Committee on Armed Services, and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
Committee Leadership
