Biography of Tim Kash
Tim Kash is a British television presenter, best known for his role as former host of 'Top of the Pops' in the United Kingdom and 'MTV News' on MTV UK and Ireland. He has also appeared on the American version of 'MTV News' and as a guest presenter on E! Network's Daily 10. Currently, Kash lives and works in New York City, United States.
Early Career
Having made a name for himself in the world of 'A&R', Tim Kash landed a job as a presenter for MTV UK and Ireland. In 2003, he began hosting 'MTV News' for the UK and Europe. After some time at MTV, Kash was offered the opportunity to host the music program 'Top of the Pops' for the British giant, BBC. On November 28, 2003, Kash filmed his first episode as the host, coinciding with one of the most radical changes in the show's image.
'Top of the Pops'
'Top of the Pops' had been on the air since 1934 and, from time to time, was in need of a refresh as viewers eventually became accustomed to the style of the presenters, leading to a decline in the show's popularity. BBC selected Kash to host the program due to his youth, previous success on MTV, and his perceived audacity, wit, quick thinking, and talent as a host. The program's management hoped that all these qualities would bring back the young audience that 'Top of the Pops' had targeted throughout its existence.
Unfortunately, over time, it became apparent that the show continued to receive low ratings. In the spring of 2005, the program was moved from BBC1 to BBC2, and finally, in July 2006, it was canceled, although Christmas episodes of the show are still aired to this day.
Charitable Work
Tim Kash is involved in charity work. He serves as an ambassador for the 'Prince's Trust' and is a patron of the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, with whom he has been closely collaborating for four years. Additionally, Kash is an ambassador for the 'Staying Alive Foundation', a charitable organization under the auspices of MTV.
In 2004, Kash founded the 'BOOM! Music Video Academy', an organization where children aged 11 to 18 could learn how to create music, film videos, and short films. Unfortunately, the academy has since closed down.
