Early Life and Education

Tim Scott was born on September 19, 1965, in North Charleston, South Carolina. He attended Charleston Southern University and subsequently earned a Master's degree in political science from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Political Career

Local Government and Congressional Service

Scott's political journey began at the local level, where he served as a Charleston County Councilman and later as the Chairman of the Charleston County Council. In 2010, he was elected as the U.S. Representative for South Carolina's 1st Congressional District, becoming the first Republican to hold the seat in over a century.

In 2013, Scott became the first African-American senator from South Carolina since Reconstruction. As a Republican, he is known for his conservative views on issues such as the economy, taxation, healthcare, and education.
