Early Career and Junior Success
Born in the small Estonian town of Pärnu, Endrekson began his rowing career in his hometown. As a junior, he achieved notable success, winning gold in the junior double sculls at the 2001 World Junior Championships.
Entry into Senior Competition
In 2001, Endrekson joined the Estonian senior national team in the quadruple sculls, marking his debut at the World Championships. Two years later, he formed a partnership with Leonid Gulov and competed in the men's double sculls at the 2004 Athens Olympics. They narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth.
Bronze Medal Streak
From 2005 to 2007, Endrekson established himself as a formidable force on the international rowing scene. He claimed bronze medals in the double sculls (2005, 2006) and quadruple sculls (2007) at the World Championships.
Olympic Silver and Breakthrough
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Endrekson partnered with legendary rower Jüri Jaanson, who was making his sixth Olympic appearance. Together, they reached the double sculls final. Despite a slow start, they surged to third place and overtook Great Britain in a thrilling photo finish to win the silver medal.
European Championships Dominance
In September 2008, Endrekson became European Champion for the first time as part of the quadruple sculls. He went on to win a silver medal in the same event at the 2011 European Championships and a gold medal at the 2016 European Championships.
