Early Life and Career

Uwe Bewersdorf, a German figure skater, was born and raised in Dresden, East Germany. He began skating at the age of seven at a local rink called "Betriebs-Sportbund-Gemeinschaft Post Dresden," which was later renamed "SC Einheit Dresden."

Partnership with Manuela Mager

Bewersdorf teamed up with Manuela Mager to form a pairs skating partnership. Together, they made history as one of the first pairs to successfully execute a clean throw triple toe loop, a move that they showcased at the 1978 World Championships. However, they struggled in the support department compared to their competitors, as they were limited to hand-to-hand lifts.

Career After Mager's Retirement

When Mager retired from skating in 1980, Bewersdorf sought a new partner. He joined forces with Marina Schulz, but injuries prevented the pair from achieving significant competitive success.

Later Life and Legacy

After his skating career, Bewersdorf pursued a career in accounting. He currently resides in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Despite not reaching the highest podiums, Bewersdorf's contributions to pairs skating, particularly his groundbreaking work in the throw triple toe loop, remain a notable part of the sport's history.
