Early Life and EducationSerhii Halai, born in Ukraine, is a prominent lawyer and politician. He obtained his law degree from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and pursued a master's degree at Michigan State University in the United States.
Legal Expertise
Halai is widely recognized as an expert in constitutional, administrative, and electoral law. He has served as Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional and Administrative Law Committee of the Ukrainian Association of Lawyers. Additionally, he has participated in observation missions both domestically and internationally.
Political Career
Halai's political journey began as an assistant to Ukrainian MP Mykola Katerynchuk. Notably, he played a key role as the Chief Legal Adviser for Volodymyr Zelensky's presidential election campaign.
In 2019, Halai became a parliamentary candidate under Zelensky's "Servant of the People" party. His list placement as number 44 secured his election as a Member of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament).
Parliamentary Roles
Halai holds several prestigious positions within the Verkhovna Rada. He serves as First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration with the European Union. He is also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of the Ukraine-EU Association and a member of the Permanent Delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
