Early Life and Education

Armen Bayburdian was born in Armenia and graduated from the Romance and Germanic Languages Department of Yerevan State University's Faculty of Philology in 1989. He then pursued his postgraduate studies at the university.

Academic Career

In 1992, Bayburdian became a lecturer in English at Yerevan State University. He would later defend his dissertation in linguistics in 1994 and become an associate professor in the English language department at the university.

Diplomatic Career

Bayburdian's career in diplomacy began in 1993 and 1994, when he served as a translator to the President of Armenia. In 1995, he studied at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy.

From 1994 to 1998, Bayburdian held various positions within the United Nations, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and UNESCO, including third secretary, second secretary, first secretary, and acting head of a UN department.

Press Secretary and Ambassador

Between 1998 and 2003, Bayburdian served as press secretary to the President of Armenia. From 2003 to 2010, he was appointed as Armenia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom.

Rector of Diplomatic School

Since 2010, Bayburdian has been the rector of the Diplomatic School of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
