Biography of Valentyn Bibik

Valentyn Bibik was an outstanding Ukrainian composer who was born on July 10, 1940, in Kharkiv, Ukraine. He showed great talent in music from an early age and began taking private lessons in composition. Bibik continued his education at the Kharkiv Institute of Arts, where he studied under the renowned composer Dmitry Klebanov and graduated in 1966.

After completing his studies, Bibik joined the Union of Composers of the USSR in 1968. He played an active role in the music community, serving as the Chairman of the Board of the Kharkiv Regional Organization of the Union of Composers of Ukraine from 1989 to 1994. During this time, he also worked as an assistant professor at the Kharkiv Institute of Arts, eventually becoming a professor and the head of the Composition and Orchestration Department from 1990 to 1994.

In 1994, Bibik relocated to St. Petersburg, Russia, where he continued his career as a professor and the head of the Department of Musical Art at the St. Petersburg Humanitarian University of Trade Unions. He also held a position at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. In 1998, he accepted an invitation to work in Israel as a professor of composition at the Tel Aviv University's Academy of Music.

Valentyn Bibik's music gained international recognition and was performed in many countries around the world, including Ukraine, Russia, various European countries, Canada, the United States, and Israel. His compositions were featured at numerous international music festivals. He received several awards throughout his career, including the ACUM Prize and the Composer of the Year award in Israel in 2001.

Valentyn Bibik passed away on July 7, 2003, in Tel Aviv, leaving behind a rich legacy of musical achievements. His contributions to the field of composition continue to inspire and influence aspiring musicians worldwide.
