Biography of Valentin Demidov
Valentin Demidov is a Ukrainian and Russian politician who has been the Head of the Administration of Belgorod since January 17, 2023. He was born on November 28, 1976, in the village of Petrovsky in the Lipetsk region. In 1986, his parents moved to Armenian, where his mother started working in a technical inventory bureau.
Early Life and Education
Demidov attended Armenian Secondary School No. 1 and in 1994, he enrolled in the Faculty of Law at Simferopol State University named after M. V. Frunze (since 1999 - V.I. Vernadsky Taurida National University) and graduated in 2000 with a degree in "Jurisprudence".
Career
Demidov began his career in Armenian in September 1998 as a specialist in the economic analysis group at "Planida". After four months, he became the Chief Legal Counsel of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Armenian. In May 1999, he joined "Crimean Titan" - the largest producer of titanium dioxide in Eastern Europe. He started as a lawyer-consultant in the Claims and Contract Bureau, and in 2011, he became the Deputy Head of the Legal Department - Head of the Claims Arbitration Bureau.
In 2002, Demidov was elected as a deputy of the Armenian City Council. From 2002 to 2007, he served as the secretary of the Armenian City Council. In 2005, he joined the Party of Regions and was re-elected as a deputy of the city council in 2006. He also led the Armenian branch of the Party of Regions. In 2006, he graduated from the Odessa Regional Institute of Public Administration of the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine, where he received a degree in "Master of Public Administration".
In 2007, Valentin Demidov was elected as the Mayor of Armenian. After the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, he remained in his position and became the head of the city administration of Armenian in the first regional elections in Crimea according to Russian legislation. During his tenure, Demidov was criticized for granting privileges to his relatives regardless of their professional qualifications.
In June 2015, he was appointed as the Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea by Sergey Aksyonov. In December 2016, he resigned from the position at his own request. From January 2017 to September 2019, he served as the Director of the Department of Territorial Development and Interaction with Local Self-Government Bodies of the city of Sevastopol. In September 2020, he became the Deputy Head of the Administration of Simferopol, where he was responsible for internal information policy and interethnic relations.
In February 2021, he assumed the position of Acting Mayor of Simferopol after Elena Protsenko resigned. On March 29, 2021, Demidov won the competition for the vacant position of the head of the administration of the city and was elected by the deputies of the Simferopol City Council. On April 4, 2021, he was elected as the head of the administration of Simferopol by the deputies of the city council. He became the fifth leader of the city since the annexation of Crimea by Russia.
On December 30, 2021, Demidov voluntarily left his position as the head of the administration of Simferopol. On January 11, 2022, the deputies of the Simferopol City Council accepted his resignation at an extraordinary session. On February 28, 2022, he was appointed as an advisor to the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
On September 12, 2022, he was appointed as an advisor to the mayor of Belgorod, Anton Ivanov. On October 12, 2022, he became the First Deputy Mayor of Belgorod under Anton Ivanov. Since November 8, 2022, he has been serving as the acting Mayor of Belgorod.

Personal Life
Demidov is married and has a son and a daughter. He is a practicing Orthodox Christian.
