Early Life and Education

Valery Filippovich Pozdnyakov was born on February 4, 1937, in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. He graduated from Krasnoyarsk Mechanical College and the All-Union Correspondence Institute of Food Industry.

Hockey Career

Pozdnyakov is a Master of Sports in bandy, a type of hockey played with a ball instead of a puck. From 1960 to 1969, he participated in the USSR championships with the "Yenisei" team. In 1969, he embarked on a coaching career with the same club.

Coaching Accomplishments

Pozdnyakov has held coaching positions at various teams, including "Kuzbass" (1977-1978) and the women's field hockey team "Start." He has also been the head coach of the women's bandy team "Lokomotiv" since 1987 and the women's ice hockey team "Lokomotiv" since 1994.

Notables and Awards

Pozdnyakov's notable pupils include N. Pogorelko and T. Malysheva, who rose to the ranks of Master of Sports and Master of Sports of International Class. In 1975, he earned the prestigious title of Honored Coach of the USSR.

In 2000, Pozdnyakov was recognized as the "Best Coach of the Century of Krasnoyarsk Krai."

Personal Life

Pozdnyakov remains unmarried and considers hockey to be his lifelong passion.
