Biography of Valter Birsa
Valter Birsa is a Slovenian football player who currently plays as a midfielder for the club "Chievo" and the Slovenian national team. Born on August 7, 1986, in the city of Nova Gorica, Slovenia, Birsa began his football career in 2003 with the club "Primorje."
Early Career
In 2004, Birsa joined the club "Gorica" after only playing one match for "Primorje." During his two seasons with "Gorica," Birsa scored 26 goals in 61 matches and won the Slovenian championship twice in 2005 and 2006.
Move to France and Loan to Auxerre
In 2006, Birsa made a move abroad to join the French club "Sochaux." He spent three seasons with "Sochaux" and won the French Cup in 2007. Birsa was then loaned to "Auxerre" in 2009, where he made his debut on February 7, coming on as a substitute in a match against "Nancy." On May 29, 2009, "Auxerre" acquired Birsa's rights from "Sochaux."
Italian Adventure with Genoa
In 2010, Birsa decided not to renew his contract with "Auxerre" and signed with the Italian club "Genoa" during the 2010/11 season. His contract, which was set to last for four years, came into effect in July 2011.
National Team Success
Birsa made his debut for the Slovenian national team on February 28, 2006, in a match against the Cypriot national team, which Slovenia won 1-0. He scored his first goal for the national team on September 9, 2009, in a home match against the Polish national team, resulting in a 3-0 victory.
