Early Life and Education
Vasilii Shova was born on July 18, 1959, in Krasnoarmeyskoye village, Hîncești district, Moldova, during the Soviet era. He graduated from the shipbuilding school in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, and later obtained a law degree from the Moldovan State University.
Political Career
Shova's political journey began as a member of the Central Committee of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM). He served as a deputy for the PCRM in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
Professional Experience
Prior to his political career, Shova worked as an installer at the Chișinău Construction Management No. 2 from 1979 to 1983. He then held various middle-level positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 1983 to 1988.
From 1988 to 1990, Shova served as the First Secretary of the district branch of the Communist Youth League of Moldova (LKSMM). He subsequently became a deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and a member of the parliamentary commission on crime prevention from 1990 to 1994.
In the following years, Shova held various diplomatic positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He served as Head of Department from 1994 to 1995 and Deputy Head of the CIS Administration from 1995 to 1998. From 1998 to 2002, he was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the People's Republic of China.
Minister of Reintegration
On December 12, 2002, Shova was appointed Minister of Reintegration of the Republic of Moldova by presidential decree. He was reappointed on March 31, 2008. During his tenure, he was awarded the "Meritul Civic" medal.
