Biography
Sergei ParajanovEarly Life and Education
Sergei Parajanov(born November 4, 1912, Bohodukhiv, Ukraine) developed a passion for the arts at a young age.
Theater Career
After graduating from the Karpenko-Kary Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1937, Parajanov became a director at the Maria Zankovetska Ukrainian Drama Theater.
Film Career
In 1953, Parajanov joined the Alexander Dovzhenko Film Studio. He directed several acclaimed films, including "The Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" (1964).
Academicism
From 1960 to 1972, Parajanov taught at the Kyiv Theatrical Institute. Notable students included Ivan Mykolaichuk and Bohdan Stupka.
Personal Life
Parajanov was married twice, first to actress Olga Nozhkina and then to Ninel Myshkova. His son, Boris Ivchenko, followed in his father's footsteps as a filmmaker.
Death and Legacy
In 1972, Parajanov passed away from a heart attack in Rostov-on-Don. He was buried in Kyiv's Baikovo Cemetery. Parajanov's unique artistic vision and contributions to cinema continue to inspire filmmakers worldwide.
