Early Life and Education
Ukrainian politician Oleksiy Bazhanov was born in 1949. In 1972, he graduated from the Zaporizhzhia Machine-Building Institute as an engineer-designer and technologist of radio equipment.
Early Career
Bazhanov began his career in 1972 as an engineer-designer at the Zaporizhzhia Electromechanical Engineering Plant "Iskra." From 1977 to 1990, he held various positions in the Communist Party, graduating from the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine in 1989.
Political Career
Bazhanov's political career began in the 1990s. He held responsible positions in the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council from 1990 to 1995. In 1995, he was appointed Deputy Chairman and Head of Secretariat of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration. In April 1998, he was elected Chairman of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council.
Bazhanov served as the Chairman of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration from 2003 to 2005 and held the rank of State Servant of the 1st Class. He was also the General Director of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Center for Standardization, Metrology, and Certification and a member of the Political Council of the People's Party.
Later Years
From 2010 to 2015, Bazhanov served as a Deputy in the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council from the Party of Regions. He received the Order of Merit, 3rd Degree in 2001 and the Certificate of Honor of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2004.
