Family HistoryViktor Doolin was born in the village of Torcovo to Gdalya Doolin, a chemical engineer, and Wanda Gorodetskaya, a music teacher.
World War II and Relocation
During World War II, the family evacuated to Dzerzhinsk, where Gdalya worked in a military factory. In 1949, the family settled in Kyiv.
Academic and Professional Career
Viktor Doolin earned his doctorate in Biological Sciences. He became Head of the Department of General and Applied Entomology at the I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv).
As a renowned coleopterologist, Doolin specialized in Elateridae beetles. He also served as President of the Ukrainian Entomological Society.
