Early Life and Education

Ivan Ivanovich Ivanov was born into a family of officials. He completed elementary school in 1913 and graduated from a workers' college in 1922.

Communist Activism and Civil War

From 1918 to 1919, Ivanov worked as a clerk for the Bogorodsk county executive committee. During the Civil War, he served in a food supply unit in the Simbirsk villages (1919-1921).

Party and Government Roles

In 1921, Ivanov became a cadet in the militia and territorial units. From 1922 to 1924, he held various positions in the Bogorodsk district committee of the Russian Communist Youth League, including instructor and head of political education.

From 1924 to 1927, Ivanov worked for the Bogorodsk district committee of the All-Union Communist Party (bolsheviks), handling religious propaganda and instruction. He also served as an instructor and deputy head of the cultural department of the Bogorodsk district trade union bureau (1927-1928).

Rise in the Party Ranks

Ivanov's career within the party continued to progress. From 1928 to 1930, he headed the Bogorodsk branch of Gostizdat, the state publishing house, and was deputy head of the Bogorodsk district committee's propaganda and agitation department. He then held leadership positions in the Noginsky district committee of the Communist Party (1930-1931).

In the Central Party Apparatus

From 1931 to 1934, Ivanov worked as an instructor and assistant head of the department of leading party organs in the Moscow city committee of the Communist Party. He subsequently served as assistant head (1934-1937) and deputy head (1937-1938) of the same department in the Central Committee of the Communist Party.

First Secretary in Khabarovsk

In 1938, Ivanov became the first secretary of the Khabarovsk regional committee of the Communist Party. This period was marred by his inclusion in the regional troika formed in 1937, which carried out Stalinist repressions.

People's Commissar for Procurement

From 1940 to 1941, Ivanov served as the People's Commissar for Procurement in the Soviet Union.

Post-War Years

After the war, Ivanov was deputy chairman of the Party Control Commission at the Central Committee of the Communist Party (1941-1946). He was a member of the Communist Party's Central Committee from 1939 to 1947 and a deputy in the Supreme Soviet of the Russian SFSR. Ivanov retired from political life in 1946.
