Biography of Vladimir Kozjavkin

Vladimir Illich Kozjavkin, a Ukrainian neurologist and manual therapist, is known for his development of a modern rehabilitation system for children with cerebral palsy. He was born on June 9, 1947, in Ostoreshche, Rovno Region, Ukraine. Kozjavkin graduated from Grodno Medical Institute in 1971 and began his medical career working as a doctor in a psychiatric hospital in Brest and in an emergency medical station in Dubno, Rovno Region.

In Moscow, Kozjavkin engaged in medical and scientific activities at the TASS clinic. In 1989-1990, with the support of international organizations, Kozjavkin opened the "Elite" rehabilitation center in Lviv, where he implemented his developed system of intensive neurophysiological rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy. In 1993, a department of the center was opened in the balneological resort of Truskavets, which later became the International Clinic of Restorative Treatment.

For his outstanding contributions to the field of medicine, the development of new treatment and rehabilitation methods, Kozjavkin has been awarded several state honors in Ukraine, including the Order of Merit (Third Degree) in 1997 and the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise (Fifth Degree) in 2005. In 1994, he was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Scientist and Technician of Ukraine."

Kozjavkin is a laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in science and technology (1999). During his time in Moscow, he collaborated with leading Soviet specialist in the treatment and rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy, Professor K.A. Semenova. Thanks to her, Kozjavkin's developed system of intensive neurophysiological rehabilitation was recognized in the Soviet Union.

Since 1989, Kozjavkin has participated in international scientific congresses and conferences, and his developed methods have been successfully implemented in the Lviv Elite Rehabilitation Center. In 1992, he defended his candidate's dissertation on "Manual Therapy in the Rehabilitation of Children with Cerebral Palsy." In 1993, by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the System of Intensive Neurophysiological Rehabilitation (or the Kozjavkin Method) was officially recognized in Ukraine and recommended for implementation in medical institutions.

In 1996, Kozjavkin defended his doctoral dissertation titled "Structural and Functional Disorders of Cerebral and Spinal Structures in Children with Cerebral Palsy and the Rehabilitation System for these Patients." Currently, the system of intensive neurophysiological rehabilitation is recognized in global practice. In a German encyclopedia on pediatric orthopedics, the Kozjavkin Method is considered one of the four most effective methods for treating patients with cerebral palsy. In March 2009, at the invitation of the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Kozjavkin presented the foundations of his rehabilitation system, its development history, and the results of its implementation at a special conference for Members of the European Union.
