Walter Calderón: A Legendary Ecuadorian Striker

Early Life and Career

Walter Calderón was born on May 28, 1997, and began his football journey at the youth academies of LDU Quito and ESPOLI (a club associated with the Ecuadorian police). In 1999, he made his professional debut with ESPOLI, where he spent one season.

Deportivo Cuenca: A Club Legend

From 2000 to 2006, Calderón played for Deportivo Cuenca, where he became a club icon. In 2004, he inspired the provincial team to their second league title, making them only the second non-Kito or Guayaquil club to win the championship.

Grand Clubs and Successes

In 2007, Calderón joined El Nacional, one of Ecuador's historical giants. After a solid season, he moved on and helped Deportivo Quito claim their first league victory in 40 years in 2008.

In 2009, he joined LDU Quito, the most dominant Ecuadorian club in recent years. Although the "Blancos" failed to qualify for the Copa Libertadores through the domestic league, Calderón and LDU achieved an international double that year, winning both the Recopa and the South American Cup.

International Career

Since 2006, Calderón has represented the Ecuadorian national team. Despite making 11 appearances, he has yet to score a goal for his country.
