Early Life and Education

Warren Carlyle was born in Norwich, Norfolk, England. He pursued dance training at Norwich Central Dance School, Bush Davies School of Theatre Arts, and Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts.

Dance Career

After studying dance, Carlyle began his career as a dancer. He later assisted choreographer Susan Stroman on the Royal National Theatre's West End production of "Oklahoma!" (1998) and the Broadway musical "The Producers."

Broadway and Film Work

Carlyle relocated to New York City in 2000. He has directed and choreographed several Broadway shows, including "Finian's Rainbow" (2009), for which he received Drama Desk Award nominations for Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Director of a Musical.

He choreographed and co-directed the new musical "Limelight: The Story of Charlie Chaplin," which premiered in 2010 and played on Broadway in 2012. Carlyle also choreographed "Follies" at the Kennedy Center in 2011 and "Mame" in 2006, which transferred to Broadway and Los Angeles.

Recent Projects

Carlyle has continued to choreograph Broadway productions such as "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" (2012), "A Christmas Story: The Musical" (2012), and "After Midnight" (2013), which he also directed. In early 2022, he is set to direct "Harmony: A New Musical" at the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene.
