Wilbur Cameron Forbes was born into a prominent family in Milton, Massachusetts, on May 25, 1870. His father, William Hathaway Forbes, was the president of Bell Telephone Company, while his mother, Edith Emerson, was the daughter of renowned poet Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Forbes received an exceptional education, graduating from Harvard University in 1892 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. His intellectual curiosity and diplomatic skills were evident from an early age.

Service in the Philippines

In 1904, Forbes embarked on a distinguished career in the Philippines.
