Early Life and Education

Yael German was born in Haifa, Israel, during the British Mandate period. She pursued her academic journey at Tel Aviv University, earning a degree in World History. She then obtained a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya. Additionally, she earned a teaching diploma and worked as an educator in the field of education.

Political Career: From Local to National

German's entry into politics began in 1993 when she joined the Meretz party and became a member of the Herzliya municipal council. Her political acumen and leadership skills were recognized in 1998 when she was elected Mayor of Herzliya.

In 2012, German made a significant change in her political affiliation by joining the Yesh Atid party. She occupied the third spot on the party's election list and successfully entered the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) in the 2013 elections. German served on the Finance Committee before being appointed Minister of Health in Benjamin Netanyahu's third government.

Service in the Knesset

German has consistently played an active role in Israeli politics, having been elected to the 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd Knesset. In the 22nd Knesset, she held the distinction of being the oldest Member of Parliament.
