Biography of Janusz Kaczmarek
Janusz Kaczmarek was born in 1961 in Gdynia, Poland. He graduated from the Department of Law and Administration at the University of Gdansk. Kaczmarek started his career as a provincial lawyer, holding various mid-level prosecutor positions in Gdansk, Gdynia, and Elblag until the year 2000.
Kaczmarek's career took off after he became acquainted with Lech Kaczynski, who was then serving as the Attorney General of Poland. For several months, Kaczmarek worked as his deputy. Shortly after the Law and Justice Party, founded by the Kaczynski brothers, won the parliamentary elections, Lech Kaczynski was elected as the President of Poland. Kaczmarek, being part of his inner circle, became the General Prosecutor.
On February 7th of this year, unexpectedly, the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of Poland, Ludwik Dorn, resigned. On the same day, it was announced that Janusz Kaczmarek would assume his position, which came as a complete surprise to Kaczmarek himself. It is known that the new minister supports the division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration into two smaller departments and that the Kaczynski brothers have complete trust in him.
