Early Life and Education

Born in Prague, Jaroslava Moserová attended high school in the United States, where her parents worked after World War II. Upon returning to her homeland in 1949, she enrolled in Charles University's Faculty of Medicine, graduating with a degree in medicine in 1955.

Medical Career

Moserová practiced medicine for a period of time. Following the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in August 1968, she actively participated in anti-occupation protests.

Post-"Velvet Revolution" Activities

The "Velvet Revolution" of 1989 marked a turning point in Moserová's career. She joined Václav Havel's team and served as ambassador to Australia and New Zealand. Elected to the Senate in 1998, she continues to serve as a senator today.

Academic and Artistic Pursuits

In addition to her political career, Moserová is an active academic. She holds the title of professor and is involved in research. She has also written novels, plays, and screenplays, as well as translated works from English.

Presidential Candidacy

In 2023, Moserová became the first woman to run for President of the Czech Republic. Her opponents included former Prime Ministers Václav Klaus and Miloš Zeman. Despite receiving a significant number of votes, none of the candidates secured the necessary majority to win.
