Zohra Lampert was born in New York City to Jewish immigrants from Russia. She graduated from the High School of Music & Art in New York and later attended the University of Chicago.
Broadway Career
Lampert began her acting career on Broadway, where she performed in several plays and received two Tony Award nominations in 1962 and 1963.
Early Film and Television Roles
After her Broadway success, Lampert began appearing in small roles in films. In the 1960s and 1970s, she had numerous guest appearances in television series. For her role as an evil gypsy in the series "Kojak," she won an Emmy Award.
