Early Life and Club Career
Born in Ukraine, Oleksandr Horiayinov began his football journey at the youth academy of Metalist Kharkiv under the tutelage of coach Valeriy Bohdanov. Throughout his club career, he remained loyal to Metalist 1925, holding the record for the most appearances made for the club while also being a member of the renowned Alexander Chizhevskiy Club. Horiayinov's outstanding performances led to him establishing the longest "dry" streak in Ukrainian league history, going 943 minutes without conceding a goal.
International Career
Despite being called up to the Ukrainian national team in the 1990s, Horiayinov's international debut came much later, at the age of 34. On May 25, 2010, he took to the field against Lithuania at the Metalist Stadium, becoming the oldest debutant in Ukrainian national team history. Horiayinov played a clean sheet in a 4-0 victory, impressing football critics with his solid performance.
Coaching Career
In addition to his playing career, Horiayinov also serves as the playing coach of Metalist 1925, further demonstrating his dedication to the club where he spent the majority of his football life.
