Early Life and Education

Aleksandr Kamyshin was born on July 2, 1984, in Cherkasy, Ukraine. He holds three degrees: a bachelor's in finance from the International University of Finance at NTUU KPI, a bachelor's in computer science from KPI, and completed the Executive Education program at INSEAD in 2018.

Corporate Career

Early Experiences and Management (2006-2019)

Kamyshin began his career as an auditor at Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler. He then moved to Dragon Capital, where he worked from 2008-2012. While there, he simultaneously held the position of CEO of KMZ Industries and played a key role in developing their private equity fund. From 2012-2019, he served as an investment manager for SCM and member of the supervisory board of Portinvest.

Fortior Capital and Agriculture (2019-2021)

In 2019, Kamyshin co-founded Fortior Capital, an investment company focused on infrastructure and agriculture. Through this platform, he established AgTech Farm, a fund investing in agrotech start-ups. He also co-founded Grano Group, which invests in agricultural operations such as grain farming, oilseed production, and dairy farming.

Latifundist Media and Infrastructure Advisory (2011-2021)

From 2011-2021, Kamyshin owned and managed Latifundist Media, a publishing company focused on agriculture. He also served as an advisor to the Minister of Infrastructure in 2021.

Minister and Senior Advisor

Ukrzaliznytsia (2022-2024)

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Kamyshin was appointed Acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ), the Ukrainian railway company. He subsequently became the permanent Chairman in April 2022. Under his leadership, UZ played a crucial role in evacuating civilians and transporting humanitarian aid during the war.

Minister of Strategic Industries (2023-2024)

On March 21, 2023, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Kamyshin as Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine. He resigned from this position on September 3, 2024.

Presidential Advisor (2023-Present)

After leaving the Ministry, Kamyshin was appointed as an unofficial advisor to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on strategic issues on September 8, 2024.

"Iron People" and Personal Life

Kamyshin is known for coining the term "Iron People" to describe UZ employees who tirelessly rescued civilians during the war. This term has been adopted for other UZ projects, such as "Iron Family" and "Iron Diplomacy."

Kamyshin is married and has two sons.
