Alexander Kaporin: A Life of Courage and Honor

Early Life and Military Service

Alexander Emel'yanovich Kaporin was born on December 12, 1924, in the village of Shelekhovo, now in Kazakhstan's East Kazakhstan region. After completing nine years of school, he joined the Red Army in August 1942 and saw action in the Great Patriotic War from September of the same year. For his bravery in crossing the Donets River, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star.

The Road to Glory

As a gunner in the 286th Artillery Regiment, 111th Rifle Division, 52nd Army, Kaporin distinguished himself in several battles. On August 26, 1944, he destroyed four enemy machine guns and over fifteen soldiers. For this action, he received the Order of Glory, 3rd Class.

On February 10, 1945, his artillery crew silenced six machine guns, an anti-tank gun, and killed up to twenty German soldiers. This earned him the Order of Glory, 2nd Class.

Completing the Trilogy

On April 17, 1945, in the battle for Nieder-Zodel, Kaporin's crew destroyed six machine gun positions, incapacitating numerous German soldiers. This act of exceptional bravery led to his award of the Order of Glory, 1st Class, making him a full holder of the coveted decoration.

Post-War Life and Honors

After the war, Kaporin continued to serve in the army until his honorable discharge in 1947 as a sergeant major. In 1959, he graduated from the Almaty Financial and Economic College. He settled in Shemonaikha, where he worked as the head of the planning and production department in an inter-collective construction organization.

In 2005, President Nursultan Nazarbayev bestowed upon Kaporin the title of "Khalyk Kakharmany" (People's Hero of Kazakhstan) and the Order of Otan. He also received a new car from the Akim (Governor) of East Kazakhstan.

Legacy and Remembrance

Alexander Kaporin passed away on August 28, 2007. He is fondly remembered as a true hero who fought valiantly for his country. A farewell ceremony was held in his honor, and a street in Shemonaikha bears his name. His life story serves as an inspiration to generations of young people.
