Early Life and Education
Denis Korostashov was born on January 22, 1942, in the village of Kamennoe, Ukraine. From a family of farmers, Korostashov pursued his education in parallel with his work. He attended the Okhtyrka Agricultural Mechanization Technical School and later graduated from the Poltava Agricultural Institute.
Agricultural Career
Korostashov's career in agriculture began in 1955 when he became a farmhand in the "Mayak" collective farm. He rose through the ranks, serving as farm manager, combine operator, tractor driver, and brigade leader.
In 1976, Korostashov took on the role of chairman of the kolkhoz named after the 15th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (VKP(b)). After Ukraine's independence, he became the head of the board of the "Batkivshchyna" agricultural cooperative.
Academic Honors and Recognition
Korostashov's contributions to agriculture have been widely recognized. In 1992, he was elected as a full member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences of National Progress. He received honorary memberships from the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences (2001) and the Poltava State Agricultural Institute (1998).
Political and Civic Activities
Korostashov has been actively involved in politics and civic life. He served as chairman of the standing commission on agrarian policy and land relations in the Poltava Regional Council from 1998 to 2006. Additionally, he held positions in various representative bodies at the district, regional, and national levels.
Journalism and Literary Achievements
Korostashov is also a member of the National Union of Journalists (2003). In 2002, he was awarded the Panas Mirny Regional Prize for his literary work.
