Alia Garayeva, a renowned rhythmic gymnast from Azerbaijan, has made her mark in the world of sports. Hailing from a Tatar background, Alia's mother, Vasilina Akhatovna Garayeva, significantly influenced her career as her coach. After training under the renowned Russian coach, V.S. Pastukhova, Alia represented Russia until 2005.

Individual and Team Success

Alia's versatility extends to both individual and team competitions. She is a two-time Azerbaijani champion (2006) in individual events and has consistently performed well in international tournaments. Her accolades include a bronze medal in the Moscow Grand Prix (2007), a 6th place finish in the all-around at the 2006 European Championships, and a victory in the ribbon exercise at a match between Azerbaijan and Russia. She also placed 4th at the World Club Championships in Japan (2006) and led her team to victory at the Italian Club Championships (2007).

Major International Competitions

Alia's achievements on the world stage are equally impressive. She represented Azerbaijan in the individual all-around at the 2007 World Championships, finishing 5th. The following year, she competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, placing 6th in the individual all-around. In 2009, she earned a silver medal at the World Championships in the ball exercise and a bronze medal in the team all-around.

Continued Success and Retirement

Alia's consistent performances continued throughout her career. At the 2010 World Championships, she won three bronze medals in individual events (hoop, ball, ribbon) and another bronze in the team all-around. The following year, she captured bronze in the individual all-around at the European Championships. Her final major competition was the 2012 London Olympics, where she finished 4th in the all-around. Afterwards, Alia gracefully retired from her successful gymnastics career.
