Early Life and Education

Anatoly Ivanovich Gurinovich was born on September 9, 1924, in the village of Slatvin, Chervensky district.

Military and Diplomatic Career

During World War II, Gurinovich participated in the partisan movement in Belarus. After the war, he graduated from the Belarusian State Institute of National Economy (1949) and the Higher Diplomatic School of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1951).

Early Diplomatic Roles

Gurinovich began his diplomatic career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Byelorussian SSR. He served as an assistant to the head of the political department (1951) and as a secretary at the Permanent Representation of the USSR to the UN in New York (1957-1961).

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Byelorussian SSR

From 1966 to 1990, Gurinovich served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Byelorussian SSR. During his tenure, he was also a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Byelorussian SSR (1967-1990) and a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus (1971).

Post-Ministerial Career

After stepping down as Minister, Gurinovich served as Ambassador-at-Large for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus (1997).
