Early Life and Education

Erna Solberg was born in Bergen, Norway, on February 24, 1961. She graduated from the University of Oslo in 2002 with a master's degree in law.

Military Service and Career Beginnings

Solberg served in the Norwegian Royal Guard, where she played the clarinet in the band. She later became a member of the Conservative Party of Norway and served as the leader of its Akershus branch from 2008.

Political Career

In 1999, Solberg was elected to the Bergen City Council, serving until 2003. She returned to the council from 2003 to 2007. In 2005, she was elected to the Norwegian Parliament (Storting), where she served on the Judiciary Committee.

Prime Minister of Norway

Solberg became Norway's Prime Minister in 2013. She led a coalition government of the Conservative Party and the Progress Party. During her time as Prime Minister, she oversaw a period of economic growth and stability.

Personal Life

Solberg is openly gay and entered into a civil partnership with David C. Costad on November 30, 2007.
