Annegreth Kramp-Karrenbauer was born into a conservative Catholic family in 1962. She graduated from the Völklingen Gymnasium in 1982 and joined the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in 1981. She studied political science and law at Trier and Saarland Universities, graduating in 1991.

Political Career

Early Ministerial Roles

From 2000 to 2007, Kramp-Karrenbauer served as Minister for the Interior, Family, Women's Rights, and Sports in the Saarland government. She later became Minister for Education, Family, Women's Rights, and Culture. From 2009 to 2011, she held the portfolio of Minister for Labor, Family, Social Affairs, Prevention, and Sports.
