Biography of Artur Tahir oglu Rasizade

Artur Tahir oglu Rasizade is an Azerbaijani statesman and the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. He was born on February 26, 1935 in the city of Gyanja, into a family of teachers. After graduating from the M. Azizbekov Azerbaijan Industrial Institute in 1957 with a specialization in mechanical engineering, he started working as an engineer at the Azerbaijan Institute of Oil Mechanical Engineering.

From 1977 to 1978, Rasizade served as the director of the Institute of Oil Mechanical Engineering. He then held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Planning Committee from 1978 to 1981. From 1981 to 1986, he worked as the head of the department at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.

In the period from 1986 to 1992, Rasizade served as the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic. From 1992 to 1996, he worked as a consultant for the "Foundation for Economic Reforms". Since February 1996, he has been serving as the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and since May 1996, as the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic.

On November 26, 1996, Rasizade was appointed as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He has received several governmental awards for his contributions. He is married and has a daughter.
