Early Life and Education
Arūnas Valinskas (born September 20, 1966) is a prominent Lithuanian politician, television personality, and producer. Valinskas graduated with a gold medal from Vilnius Secondary School No. 12 and enrolled in the Faculty of Law at Vilnius University. However, his academic journey was marked by frequent suspensions due to his involvement in extracurricular activities, culminating in his expulsion in 1990, 1992, and 1994.
Controversies and Legal Issues
In 1999, Valinskas was convicted under the Criminal Code for falsely reporting a bomb threat at a hotel where a celebrity wedding was taking place. Despite his legal troubles, he completed a correspondence course at the Faculty of Law from 2000 to 2003 (or 2002, according to official sources). He successfully defended his thesis on "Punishment Theories" and earned a Master's degree in Criminal Law.
Television Career
Valinskas has established himself as a successful television producer and host. He launched the popular TV shows "Arena," "Yes and No," and "Bicycle Show," and hosted music programs like "Road to the Stars" and "Stargate." He also created and organized unconventional shows and events.
Political Career
In April 2008, Valinskas co-founded the National Revival Party and became its chairman. The party gained popularity in the October 2008 parliamentary elections, securing 16 seats. Valinskas was elected Speaker of the Seimas (Parliament) in 2008 but was removed from the position in September 2009.
Personal Life
Valinskas is married to Ingrida, a television host and singer. They have two sons, Arūnas and Šarūnas.
