Early Life and Education
Barbara Pompili was born on June 13, 1975, in Bois-Bernard, France. She graduated from the University of Lille with a degree in political science.
Political Career
Pompili began her political career in 2000 by joining the Green Party. In 2002, she served as a spokesperson for Green candidate Noël Mamère during the French presidential election.
National Assembly
In 2012, Pompili was elected as a deputy to the French National Assembly, representing the 2nd constituency of Somme. She served as the vice-president of the Green group in the Assembly until 2016.
Government Roles
In 2016, Pompili was appointed as the State Secretary for Biodiversity in the Valls government. She held the same position in the Cazeneuve government until 2017.
In 2020, Pompili was promoted to Minister of Ecological Transition in the Castex government. She retained this portfolio until the formation of the Borne government in 2022.
