Biography of Billy Gould

Billy Gould, whose real name is William David Gould, was born in 1963 in Los Angeles, California. From an early age, he had a passion for music, particularly playing the bass guitar. In high school, he met Roddy Bottum and together they formed their first band called "The Animated." The band also included future Faith No More vocalist Chuck Mosley on keyboards and Mark Stewart on guitar. Their style of music combined energetic punk rock like The Buzzcocks with pop music influences such as Michael Jackson.

The Formation of Faith No More

In the early 1980s, Billy Gould moved to San Francisco, where he began studying in college and became a member of several rock bands. It was during this time that he met drummer Mike Bordin and guitarist Jim Martin, and they eventually formed a band initially called "Faith No Man," which was later renamed to Faith No More. In 1982, their debut album "Quiet in Heaven/Song of Liberty" was released, and a couple of years later, they gained unprecedented fame with the album "We Care a Lot," according to many critics.

Producer and Record Label Executive

In the 1990s, Gould served as the producer for Faith No More's final album, "Album of the Year." After the band's breakup, he became the CEO of the record label "Koolarrow Records," which primarily worked with Spanish-speaking bands and musicians. During the mid-1990s, he occasionally performed with the Mexican grindcore band "Brujeria" and participated in several "supergroups," including "Shandi's Addiction" and "Black Diamond Brigade." He also performed with the American heavy metal band "Fear Factory."

Recent Projects

Some of Gould's recent projects include his involvement with the Romanian metal band "Coma" and the German band "Harmful," where he filled in as a guitarist for their 2007 tour. More recently, he joined a new band called "Fear and the Nervous" led by James Shaffer, who lost his place in the popular band "Korn" due to drug problems. In 2008, Gould performed at a concert in the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco with the band "The Axis Of Evildoers," which was later renamed "Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine."

Throughout his musical projects, Gould played bass guitars from the company "Zon," with whom he had a long-term contract. His playing style stood out from many contemporary bass guitarists due to his abundant use of complex techniques and techniques.
