Early Life and Legal Career

Maciej Żywno was born on January 31, 1965, in Białystok, Poland. He pursued a legal education at the Białystok branch of the University of Warsaw, now known as Białystok University. Upon graduation, he embarked on a judicial career as a judge at the Białystok District Court.

Political Ascent

In 1994, Żywno entered the political realm as the Municipal Secretary of Białystok, a position he held until 2006. His political momentum gained traction when he was appointed Voivode of the Podlaskie Voivodeship in January 2007.

Tenure in the Senate

Żywno's tenure as Voivode was short-lived, as he was elected to the Polish Senate in the 2007 parliamentary elections. He successfully defended his senatorial seat in both the 2011 and 2015 elections.

Return to the Voivodeship

Following his reelection in 2015, Żywno was reappointed as Voivode of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. He held this position until 2019.

Unsuccessful Parliamentary Candidacy

In 2019, Żywno sought election to the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish parliament. However, he received only 5,442 votes and failed to secure a seat.

Recognition and Honors

Żywno has been recognized for his contributions to the fire service with the "Badge of Merit for Fire Protection."
